STUDENTS with outstanding Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results and whose parents have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic can apply for scholarships and tuition fee waivers at UCSI University.
With an allocation of RM30mil, the scholarships and bursaries will be awarded to eligible students for its 2021 session, according to a press release from the university on June 17.
Aside from those experiencing financial woes, students who have scored 9A+ in their SPM examination will be handed full scholarships by the university.UCSI University pro vice-chancellor (KL Campus) Prof Datuk Dr Toh Kian Kok (pic) said at a time when many have lost their jobs or experienced salary reduction, the varsity feels compelled to help those who are in need.
“This is our part in giving back to the community and what better way than to empower students with the right education?” he said.
The scholarships are offered to students pursuing foundation, A-Level, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The university offers over 100 degree programmes in various disciplines, namely, business, engineering, music, arts and design, mass communication, bioscience, architecture, hospitality and tourism management, medicine, computer science, artificial intelligence, and pharmaceutical sciences.
In the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2022, UCSI rose 44 spots to place 347th, securing its position as among the top 1.1% of the universities in the world.
Earlier this year, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021, UCSI’s Institute of Music emerged as one of the world’s top 50 in the field of performing arts.
Its Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management was ranked in the world’s top 100 for hospitality and leisure management; its Faculty of Engineering in the top 150 for petroleum engineering; and its Faculty of Business Management in the top 300 business schools.
UCSI’s top undergraduates have been selected for research placements in universities such as Harvard University, Imperial College London, Tsinghua University, University of Chicago and University of Queensland.
