Limkokwing addresses accreditation issue | The Star

LIMKOKWING University of Creative Technology (LUCT) is aware that news surrounding the status of its academic programme accreditation is being circulated in the media.

LUCT is a renowned university. Established over 30 years ago, it is one of the first private universities that was upgraded to a full-fledged university in Malaysia. It is currently operating internationally in many other countries and hosts the largest number of international students in Malaysia. As such, LUCT is very concerned about the issues raised as the varsity’s principle is to provide the best education for its students.

LUCT programmes were audited early this year. Out of 98 programmes, eight postgraduate programmes were not given accreditation extensions. These eight programmes have had full accreditation status since 2010. LUCT has been given 30 days to appeal against the decision or to submit new documents for another round of auditing. The LUCT management is taking immediate action to rectify all issues raised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

LUCT regrets that the matter has been sensationalised by certain quarters. Auditing and accreditation is a continuous process and LUCT always ensures that all programmes offered are registered with the Higher Education Ministry and fully accredited by the MQA as well as other professional and local and international accreditation bodies.
