Market Motion lands in Adelaide to service South East Asia market

Market Motion specialises in providing route planning, dispatch, telematics and data analytics services to organisations with transport operations and in-field personnel.

The technology used enables companies to drive operational efficiencies and reduce fleet costs by optimising delivery routes and travel time; with tangible benefits for businesses in improved worker safety and fatigue management, enhanced customer service and sustainability benefits through controlling fuel consumption and reducing idling time.

The company will create local jobs in the short and medium-term, targeting technology and supply chain talent.

Minister for Trade and Investment Stephen Patterson welcomed Market Motion to South Australia, saying the move would boost South Australia’s Hi-tech capability.

“Market Motion is the Certified Sales Partner for Global logistics software company, Omnitracs, for Australia and New Zealand and now several countries in South East Asia – which will be the focus of its new Adelaide capability,” Minister Patterson said.

“Market Motion is a well-established Australian business who’ve chosen Adelaide to scale its operations regionally into new, high potential markets. It will be a welcome addition to the state’s Hi-tech sector, bringing capabilities relevant to supply chain automation, industrial and geospatial systems, and big data analytics.

“Market Motion focuses on improving fleet efficiency, safety, lowering road congestion and managing chain of responsibility, which will only increase in importance to operators in the context of coronavirus. They will be a great contribution to the South Australian economy.”

Under its SALP agreement, Market Motion has been awarded $80,000 – $40,000 to be used to help with office space and $40,000 which can be used to hire local professional services suppliers.

Richard Alp, Director and Founder of Market Motion, says the decision to open an office in South Australia was based on the belief that Adelaide was an effective base to service markets in South East Asia.

“Adelaide is a great option for Market Motion to service our South East Asian customers. We are currently servicing six countries with a view to build our presence further across the Asia Pacific Region,” Mr Alp said.

“In 2019 Market Motion added its cloud-based platform and Telematics capabilities, opening up viability and access to smaller customers which has expanded our client base.

“Our solution helps our customers – big or small – to manage the ever-increasing complexity of business today.”

Emma Lyons, General Manager of Market Motion, explains numerous trends are changing the direction of the transport and trucking industry, including urban congestion, global driver shortages, changing consumer behaviour, and the impact of evolving technologies.

“We are partnering with Omnitracs to deliver the next generation optimisation and intelligence solutions to manage this changing industry landscape; and we will be bringing these to market across the Asia Pacific Region.”

The SALP is a crucial conduit for companies looking to build a presence in South Australia, helping businesses find a foothold in a new place, embed in the local economy, create jobs  and forge connections with local vendors, partners, customers and collaborators.
